F.L.A.W. provides program services to “at-risk” youth girls ages 7 to 17 with two open enrollment periods a year during Spring and Fall. The goal of our programs is to improve the well-being of the youth by providing a role model that can support the youth academically, socially and/or personally. Our programs are developed to empower and strengthen the youth’s ability to live a purposeful life.
Girls (7 to 9) Tweens (10 to 12) Teens (13 to 17)
At Risk Defined
Youth are growing up in a fast paced society and many of them are considered “at risk” in some way or another. Youth that are from single parent families, dysfunctional family units, and other socio-emotional issues tend to be at a greater disadvantage of transitioning to the next phase of their lives. Many youth are exposed to negative influences at young ages. Regardless of their ethnicity, gender, age, or family background that can be considered at risk. Parents can raise their children right and be supportive and loving, however they cannot prevent their children from being caught up in dangerous lifestyles and making poor choices (youthreach.org.sg, 2015).
